This role is ideal for a journalist with strong reporting instincts, sharp writing skills, and a deep interest in equestrian sport.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The successful candidate will work 20-25 hours a week, primarily Fridays through Mondays, contributing timely news coverage, competition reporting, and feature content across Chronicle platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some travel will be required to cover competitions and industry events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Report and write news stories, competition coverage and features for\u00a0the Chronicle in\u00a0digital and print formats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide timely weekend coverage of competitions, breaking news, and developing stories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct interviews with riders, trainers and other industry figures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel to equestrian competitions and events as assigned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File clean, accurate copy on deadline and adhere to Chronicle style and editorial standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with editors and other contributors to identify story ideas and angles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Prior reporting and writing experience, preferably in sports, lifestyle or niche media. (Experience covering equestrian sports is a bonus.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong news judgment and the ability to work independently on deadline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent writing, interviewing and organizational skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong familiarity with English-discipline equestrian sports, including trends, topics and major players<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness and ability to work weekends (primary schedule would be Friday through Monday)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to travel occasionally for assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multimedia skills\u2014including basic photography, videography, social media, and experience with digital publishing\u2014are beneficial&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compensation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Part-time paid position; compensation commensurate with experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel expenses covered for assigned events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and at least two&nbsp;<strong>published<\/strong>&nbsp;writing samples to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:lslade@coth.com\">lslade@coth.com<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an addendum (inside the body of your email is fine), please write two or three sentences explaining who you think is the best show jumping, eventing or dressage horse in history, and why.
